As one of the leading energy & commodities trading companies, BGN has built its success on a partnership-focused approach that will last for generations.
With a strong heritage dating back more than 80 years, our strategy reinforces our position as a leader in the energy sector and ensures we sustainably respond to the global energy shortage, while helping to drive the energy transition.
BGN efficiently conducts trading, storage, and transportation of petroleum products, petrochemicals, and other commodities worldwide.
Our integrated business model ranges from oil and gas trading and distribution to financing energy projects. Thanks to our established relationships with refineries, producers, state oil companies, and international traders, we are present throughout the energy value chain. We also invest in asset and infrastructure development to enhance our trading activities.
BGN has a diverse customer and supplier base worldwide, including national and multinational oil companies and leading industrial and petrochemical companies. With our partnership-based approach we combine our expertise with new technologies and insights to serve as a trusted counterparty and to deliver value for our suppliers and customers.
BGN moves about 50 million metric tons of commodities for a significant double-digit billion-dollar turnover each year.
BGN’s vision is to pioneer a safe and secure energy transition within our sector and help others achieve their net-zero emissions targets.
BGN’s mission is to be among the top-tier integrated energy companies and embrace the energy transition by expanding its core business. Through investing in new areas, nature-based solutions, and green technologies, we generate added value and synergies with our core business, responsibly meeting energy supply and demand flows worldwide.
Rüya Bayegan
Group CEO
Rüya Bayegan has had executive roles in two family businesses and has led BGN since inception. After branching out into energy products, Rüya set up BGN’s offices in Geneva, the commodity trading capital of the world, and Dubai, as well as Casablanca, Doha, Houston, Rotterdam and Singapore.
Among the keys to Rüya’s success was her ability to attract world-leading traders, as well as her formidable skill for negotiation and for establishing enduring partnerships. Through her direction, BGN has expanded to cover multiple energy products, transition fuels including LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), other commodities such as minerals, and carbon credits.
Taking care of people has always been a priority for Rüya, who has initiated non-profit efforts such as employee family welfare, donations for hospitals and schools and earthquake relief support. Under Rüya’s leadership, BGN has committed to recruit women for 50% of the company’s new hires in 2024.
Rüya has received numerous awards throughout her career, including being consistently listed on the “Power 50” list of the world’s most influential women in the energy trading industry.
